Bollywood has been the biggest trendsetter and today we bring you the biggest Bollywood trends for 2016.

  • Bold red lips

One of the biggest trend of 2016 is red lips. All celebrities are happily taking this trend to red carpets and we love it. Simple and elegant dresses with bold red lips is what celebrities are wearing for the fashion events.

  • The cape trend

LEGACY MIZWAN-2015

Mizwan Welfare Society was established by well-known poet and social activist late Kaifi Azmi in 1993 to empower the Rural Women. After his demise in 2002, Veteran Actress Shabana Azmi and her god child Namrata Goyal carried forward the legacy. In 2012, Fashion designer Manish Malhotra supported the cause by adopting the chikankari centres which created employment opportunities for women.

The Mizwan Fashion show was held on Saturday 4th April, 2015 in Mumbai.  The show saw the legendary Bollywood celebs coming together to support the noble cause. They walked the ramp with their children presenting Ace designer Manish Malhotra’s designs. He gave the traditional chikankari a modern avatar by using floral designs and applique work on crop tops, jackets, saris for women and bandhgalas and sherwanis for men. Lakme Fashion Week – Winter/ Festive 2014

Lakme Fashion Week – Winter/ Festive, which is one of the biggest and most celebrated fashion week of the country was held in Palladium Hotel, Mumbai from 20th – 24th August, 2014. Around 86 designers including the likes of Manish Malhotra, Shantanu & Nikhil, Anju Modi, Varun Bahl, Vikram Phadnis, Anita Dongre, Pratima, Rocy S, Masaba Gupta Arjun Khanna and few designers from Pakistan participated in the Fashion Week.

Here is the glimpse of the Lakme Winter Fashion Week:

Day 1 Highlights

Masaba Gupta opened the show with her adventurous collection “WANDERESS” – dedicated to free spirited women. The collection was inspired by Saskia, a character in French novelist Roman Payne’s book “The Wanderess”. She presented bold floral and geometric printed blouses/tops balanced with plain Saris and skirts with golden and silver borders, cut out gowns with dupattas, full on printed flared pants and jackets. Actress Shilpa Shetty – the show stopper – wore a black full print cutout gown with plain dupatta over her shoulder.

Amit Agarwal’s awesome collection had figure hugging dresses with peplum, beaded patterns,crisscross designs in metallic hues. Veils, earflaps, hair pieces added a touch of drama to the entire collection.

Gorgeous Sushmita Sen, Miss Universe 1994, sashayed the ramp as a show stopper in a stripped fitted nude and black gown.

Anju Modi showcased her bridal collection “Manikarnika” inspired by the paintings of Ajanta and Ellora caves and the Khajuraho sculptures. Jacqueline Fernandez turned show stopper for the designer.She looked majestic in maroon lehenga with intricate golden work, embroidered choli and off white chunni with maroon and golden border.

Highlights of Day 2

Second day of the fashion week was mostly dedicated to traditional Indian hand-looms and textiles. Textiles Minister Santosh Gangwar inaugurated the second day.

Designer Sashikant Naidu presented saris in silk, khadi and crepe fabrics with traditional Kalamkari work of Andhra Pradesh.

Actress Shriya Saran looked stunning as showstopper in a floral (Kalamkari work) crepe sari  with a lightly embellished green blouse.

Anavila Mishra showcased her collection “Mohenjo-Daro” that has Saris in hand –woven textiles such as linen, silk, cotton with shirt styled blouses and short kurtis. The use of Ikat which is a traditional dyeing technique and Ajrakh printing of Kutch was quite prominent in her collection.

Actress Konkona Sen Sharma walked the ramp as a showstopper for the designer in a metallic yellow sari draped in dhoti style.

Designer Krishna Mehta, presented handlooms of Banaras, Maheshwar, Bhagalpur and Manipur. Her versatile collection had everything from angarakha style gowns, tunics, sheer covers, maxi dresses to saris with tie & dye and heavy embroidery. The men’s wear collection had variety of sherwanis, printed shirts and Jodhpuri jackets with wide pyjamas.

Day 3

Anushree Reddy’s show “Portobello The Indian Chapter” was inspired by Portobello Road, which is world’s largest antique market in UK. Her collection had vintage floral and newspaper prints.

Nargis Fakhri walked the ramp as a show stopper in a rose printed light pink lehenga with golden zari work on the belt and border with sea green tulle duppatta and choli.

Gaurang Shah’s bright and colorful collection had saris, lehengas, kurta pajamas in Kanchipuram, Matka silk and Khadi with traditional zardosi and badla embroidery and motifs such as elephant, tiger, peacock and rudraksh.

Actress Taapsee Pannu walked the ramp in a yellow ghagara with a gold-and orange border with full sleeved orange blouse and dupatta draped as a sari pallu.

Varun Behl too joined the list of designers exhibiting their collection this fashion week after a period of about 10 years. Actress Priyanka Chopra walked the ramp for him wearing a black crop top paired with wide legged trousers of the same color. The combination was brightened up by the silver jacket that she wore over her attire accompanied with a stoned neck- piece.

Anita Dongre has been popular for experimenting with combining western wear with Indian attire. She displayed her collection “India Modern’. Watch the video:

Day4                             

Mrinalini Chandra presented her unique jewelry collection inspired by great Indian Classic novel “Shakuntala” by Kalidas. Saris were created by Nikhil Thampi to complement the awesome jewelry designs.

Manish Malhotra closed the Lakme Fashion week with Kareena Kapoor as his show stopper.  His designs were a combination of modern- traditional blend for the modern day women. It was a cherry on the cake to end the show on such glamorous note.
