Mizwan Welfare Society was established by well-known poet and social activist late Kaifi Azmi in 1993 to empower the Rural Women. After his demise in 2002, Veteran Actress Shabana Azmi and her god child Namrata Goyal carried forward the legacy. In 2012, Fashion designer Manish Malhotra supported the cause by adopting the chikankari centres which created employment opportunities for women.
The Mizwan Fashion show was held on Saturday 4th April, 2015 in Mumbai. The show saw the legendary Bollywood celebs coming together to support the noble cause. They walked the ramp with their children presenting Ace designer Manish Malhotra’s designs. He gave the traditional chikankari a modern avatar by using floral designs and applique work on crop tops, jackets, saris for women and bandhgalas and sherwanis for men.
