Festival Season in India has begun! Today is the first day of Navratri (which means nine nights). Navratri signifies the triumph of good over evil to celebrate the killing of demon Mahishasura by Goddess Maa DURGA. These are the nine days of ultimate fun, dressing up and visiting nicely decorated Puja pandals, Dandiya Nights served with some traditional delicacies (irresistible vrat ki thaali).
Navratras are also a time to put your best fashion foot forward. Here are the latest trends for you to try on:
#Deepika Padukone, performing Garba in RamLeela moive
Colours: This Navratri maroon, black, red, purple, black and mauve shades are trending.
Chaniya Choli: Chaniya Choli is the traditional dress for Garba/Dandia Dance. Kalidaar ghagras (worn by Deepika in RamLeela) with traditional long blouses, plain ghagras with Rabari embroidery border, knee length ghagras with lot of kalis, khadi print blouses and lehenga’s with gold tikki work and brocade blouses are going to rule this Navratri.
Conventional style with a modern wrap is what Men can wear for the festivities. Men can wear the traditional kediyu or go for kurta pajama’s which never ceases to amaze anyone!
Dhoti’s with a jacket (Let’s try and remember Ranveer Singh from Raam-Leela) the same look is easy to make and it’s quite catchy too. This season trend up no lesser than celebs.
Wear Prints: You can also make a style statement with traditional wear bandhani and lehriya print which are also going to be the latest trend for autumn winter season (#Lakme Fashion Week-Winter/Festive).Men can go for ethnic printed jackets, kurtas or dhotis which are trending these days..
Accessories: Go for heavy Jhumkas, chandlier earings team them up with traditional bangles and kamarbandh (waistband).
Foot-WEAR? Men can go with the conventional loafers (Jooti cum loafers) to add finesse to this look. Women have many options but nothing compared to embellished jootis. Wear them with anklets and get ready to dance through the night.
I love the Indian costumes. I have two sarees, and feel so beautiful and elegant when using it! Great post!
Thanks:)
Lovely suggestions for men as well 🙂
Thanks Mani:)
Awesome festive collection!
Several of these looks are beautiful. I just love the bold colors. I even like some of the menswear fashions as well. It was so interesting reading about the Navratri festival. I enjoy learning about different cultures. If you would like to visit my blog and follow each other let me know.
