The winner of 64th Miss World Title is — Miss South Africa Rolene Strauss! The twenty two year old medical student and model was crowned Miss World at the Excel Centre London. Miss Hungry Edina Kulcsar was named the 1st Runner up and Miss United States Elizabeth Safrit was the second runner up.
This is the second time, South Africa has won the title since 1958 when Penelope Anne Cohen won the crown, though the country has held the title for three times (In 1974, Anneeline Kriel was given the title, when the winner Helen Elizabeth of Wales had to relinquish the title because she had a child, which was against the competition rules).
Around 121 contestants from all over the world competed for the prestigious title this year which symbolizes- beauty with brains, compassion and humanity. All these talented girls went through many challenges during the past few days- such as–Talent, Top model, Beach fashion, Beauty with a Purpose and a debate at the Oxford Union.
Five contestants – Miss India Koyal Rana, Brazil’s Julia Gama, Indonesia – Maria Sastrayu, Kenya – Idah Nguma, Guyana – Rafieya Husain were adjudged the winner of the Beauty With a Purpose Contest.
India’s Koyal Rana was declared the Continental Queen of Asia and she also won the special award of World Fashion Designer Dress. She topped the Leadership scoreboard and made it to the TOP ten

Miss Thailand – Nonthawan Thongleng won the People’s choice contest. Miss Malaysia Dewi Liana Seriestha won the Talent Contest, Beach Fashion competition winner was Miss Sweden Olivia Asplund, Miss US Elizabeth Safrit won the Multimedia round, Miss Finland Krista Haapalainen was the winner of Sports & Fitness and Bosnia & Herzegovina’s Miss Isidora Borovčanin won the Top Model Title, Sweden’s Olivia Asplund, was the winner of Beach Fashion contest, France’s Flora Coquerel won the Interview Round.

The first Miss World Beauty pageant was held in 1951 by Eric Morley in United Kingdom, since then this event is organized every year by Miss World Organization which works for many humanitarian causes. After his demise in 2000, his better half Julia Morley became the Chairman of the organisation. The winner of the title spends the entire year representing Miss World Organization and its humanitarian causes.
