After a grand opening by Sabyasachi Mukherjee the Lakme Fashion Week began on a great note with designer Manish Malhotra raising the voice against violence on women on day one. Here is a quick recap of the week:
DAY 1
Manish Malhotra used the fashion platform to draw the attention to the issue of Violence against Women. He presented collection Blue Runway in association with the WEvolve at an offsite location in Byculla, the Great Eastern Home.
The women’s wear had a range of heavily embroidered lehengas, long jackets, crop tops, saris, fitted dresses, long kurtas with pants and men’s wear had a variety of suits with threadwork on sleeves and shoulders. Over all his collection was a treat for summer brides and ended with messages of gender equality and justice. Many Bollywood celebs were present in the front row to support the cause of Gender based Violence.
Masaba Gupta created history in Indian fashion week with launching the show- on popular social media channel Instagram. Her vibrant colorful collection had dresses with candy and ice-cream prints, off shoulder loose outfits, skirts etc. Nargis Fakri was the showstopper in pink and green popsicle printed dress and matching head gear.
Day2
The second day of the fashion week was dedicated to Indian fabrics and weaves.
Anavila Mishra presented her awesome sari collection made from hundred percent organic fibres. The color palette of soft pastels was cool and apt for summer. Gorgeous Dia Mirza walked the ramp as a showstopper for the designer. She kept her look simple with a messy bun and diamond earrings and minimum makeup.
Designer Raghavendra Rathore, who is known for his classic bespoke ensemble returned to LFW to launch his Ready to wear line The Imperial India Company (IIC) featuring indo-western styles. The launch was followed by an introduction to Raghavendra Rathore Foundation, which helps the weavers by providing them a stable livelihood and promotes the rural craft.
Raghavendra Rathore, the regal bespoke menswear collection was presented at the end of the show,which had brocade sherwanis, bandhgalas with breeches, kurtas with wide dhotis. Bollywood actor Ritesh Deshmukh turned showstopper for the designer walking the ramp in brocade bandhgala, black kurta with white churidar.
Day 3
The first lady of the Bollywood, Gauri Khan impressed everyone with her first ever collection of saris and resort wear for the designer brand Satya Paul, which completed 30 years. The collection Tropical Wonder was inspired by nature and had beautiful tropical prints on kaftans, shift dresses, tunics, saris with halter blouses,and beach wear. A bevy of Bollywood celebs were present in the front row.
Day 4
The day four of lakme fashion week was quite high on Bollywood quotient with Karishma Kapoor turning show stopper for Neha Agarwal, Esha Gupta walked the ramp for Arpita Mehta, Ilena Dcruz turned show stopper for Anushree Reddy, Tamannaah & Nargis Fakhri walked the ramp for Payal Singh and Suneet Verma respectively.

Day 5
Designer Anamika Khanna presented a collection inspired by the Lakme’s latest beauty statement of Sculpt. Brand ambassador Kareena Kapoor turned show stopper for the designer, looked gorgeous in silver and black outfit.
